How Mammatus Clouds Form ?

Mammatus cloud is a meteorological term applied to a cellular pattern of pouches hanging underneath the base of a cloud. Their color is normally a bluish gray, the same as that of the host cloud, but direct illumination from the setting sun and other clouds may cause a gold or reddish cast.

Mammatus cloud only occur when cumulonimbus are present. However, they can drift up to 25 miles away from a thunderstorm. Mammatus clouds usually form during warm months. In the United States, they occur more often over the midwest and eastern portions of the country, though they can and do occur more infrequently over the west and southwest. Mammatus has often been linked with the occurrence of tornadoes but the fact is mammatus clouds are harmless and do not mean that a tornado is about to form.

How mammatus cloud form? As updrafts carry precipitation enriched air to the cloud top, upward momentum is lost and the air begins to spread out horizontally, becoming a part of the anvil cloud. Because of its high concentration of precipitation particles (ice crystals and water droplets), the saturated air is heavier than the surrounding air and sinks back towards the earth.

The temperature of the subsiding air increases as it descends. However, since heat energy is required to melt and evaporate the precipitation particles contained within the sinking air, the warming produced by the sinking motion is quickly used up in the evaporation of precipitation particles. If more energy is required for evaporation than is generated by the subsidence, the sinking air will be cooler than its surroundings and will continue to sink downward. The subsiding air eventually appears below the cloud base as rounded pouch-like structures called mammatus clouds. On Tuesday 20th of January, the class started at 1.30 pm. My teacher, Mrs. Wiwin gave me a task to make an advertisement. Mrs. Wiwin gave me about 30 minutes to make an advertisement. So, I decided to make this one.

My Holiday

Hello! Long time no see! Now, I want to tell you about my holiday

Last holiday, 27^th of December 2014, I went to my aunt’s house in Cianjur. I went to my aunt’s house on Saturday morning at 10 am and arrived at 2 pm.I went there with my mother, my brother, my cousin, my grandmother, and my grandfather. It was a tired journey, because of usually I went there just needed 2,5 hours to reach Cianjur, but 2 weeks a go I needed almost 4 hours to reach Cianjur. There was a lot of traffic!. Maybe many people went to Puncak to celebrate a new years party. When I arrived at my aunt’s house, I relaxed my body and prayed Zuhur. After that, I took a nap because I really tired. I woke up for prayed Asar and took a bath. In the night, we played fireworks. It was so fun!. At 9 pm I slept, relaxed my body, because tomorrow I shall went to Taman Bunga Nusantara in Cibodas.

Finally, the day was present. On Sunday, we went to Taman Bunga. I woke up at 5 am and prayed subuh, and then I took a bath, had a breakfast, and prepared somethings (like food, drink, camera, etc). We went to Taman Bunga at 9 am and arrived at 10 am. Actually, this was a second time I visited Taman Bunga. First time I went there when I was 4 or 5 years old and I didn’t remember everything in Taman Bunga, but I only remembered that I went there with my grandmother, my grandfather, and my aunt. Hahahaha... a memory when I was child. Yup! back to the topic again. When we arrived at Taman Bunga, we must bought some tickets. Because of we rode train to entered Taman Bunga, it costs Rp. 40.000,-. If we didn’t ride train, it costs more cheaper, that was Rp. 30.000,-.

We waited the train came out about 10 minutes. When the train came out, we rode the train and entered Taman Bunga Nusantara. First, I saw many flowers and it shaped like a peacock. It was so beautiful, very colourful, and many kind of flowers. Afterthat, I saw many flowers and it shaped like a dinosaurus. It was not colourful but it looks very muscular. I saw many flowers, parks, ponds, and many more (it was too many to mention) hehe. We went around Taman Bunga with train about 15 minutes and arrived at the “Mini Station” in the playground. When we arrived at there, my brother and my cousin wanted to play bombomkart, rode a horse, ATV, and many more. After we played, unfortunately, my cousin had a stomachache. So, my grandmother and my grandfather look after my cousin. Meanwhile, I, my brother, my mother, and my aunt went around Taman Bunga by walked. We saw Balinese Park, Japanese Park, Netherland Park, Glass House, and fountain. OH MY GOD! What a beautiful park! After that, we went back home and rested.

The next day, we went back to Bandung.
